That'll Preach

From one sleepy lil girl to another— this week has been looong.

“I will give You thanks with all my heart; I will sing Your praise before heavenly beings. I will bow down and give thanks to Your name for your constant love and truth. On the day I called, You answered me; you increased strength within me.” Psalm 138:1-3

I love it when something from a verse you’ve read 100 times jumps out and grabs you, but this one straight up form tackled me.

I will give You thanks with ALL my heart. All. It’s so easy to and i am so guilty of only giving thanks with the parts of my heart that are getting their way, the parts that are satisfied, the parts that are comfortable, the ones that are still whole, but all of it?

What about the parts that are bitter that mom and dad couldn’t make their marriage work? what about the ones that are exhausted from working 3 jobs just to hopefully break even this month? what about the ones that are still limping from the blow of rejection or the ones that just want to catch a break?

Yeah, I’m gonna have to pray about it, brotha. But the truth is, we are called to be thankful even when it hurts, because He is more faithful than we could ever deserve.

Which brings me to this: You answered me; you increased strength within me.

God’s answer isn’t always going to be to take away the hard things, but He will always equip us with exactly what we need to face them.

A thankful heart changes everything. life can be so heavy, but it’s thankfulness that postures our hearts to receive a heaven-sized dose of grace for ourselves and for our situations and it’s the grace that lightens the load.

Thank you, jesus.
